Two New Dosage Strengths Of Stalevo(R) Approved In The U.S. Provide Greater Dosing Flexibility For People With Parkinson’s Disease

Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation today announced the launch of two new FDA-approved dosage strengths of Stalevo(R) (carbidopa, levodopa and entacapone), which is indicated for certain people with Parkinson’s disease who experience end-of-dose “wearing off”. The approval of Stalevo 75 and 125 tablets (18.75 mg carbidopa, 75 mg levodopa, 200 mg entacapone and 31.

Parkinson’s Disease Society Comments On Patients’ Right To Self Referral Announcement, UK

The Parkinson’s Disease Society (PDS) today welcomed Alan Johnson’s announcement to allow patients to self-refer to physiotherapists and allied health professionals. Steve Ford, Chief Executive of the PDS said: “Alan Johnson’s announcement is certainly a step in the right direction. NICE’s Parkinson’s guidelines recommend speedy access to therapy services that can make a real difference to the quality of life of someone with a long term progressive illness.

Addex Parkinson’s Product Progressing In Early Clinical Trials

Addex Pharmaceuticals (SWISS: ADXN) announced that it has completed the first part of a two-part Phase I clinical trial to evaluate the newly developed modified release formulation of ADX48621. ADX48621 is scheduled to start a Phase IIa proof of concept study for the treatment of levodopa associated dyskinesia in Parkinson’s disease during the first half of 2009.
