Clinical Trial Focuses On New Drug For Solid Cancer Tumors And NHL

Researchers at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) have opened a clinical trial, which aims to evaluate a new treatment for solid cancer tumors and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL) in combination with a chemotherapy agent called cyclophosphamide. CINJ is a center of excellence of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

ZIOPHARM Presents Positive Darinaparsin Phase II Data At ASH Meeting

ZIOPHARM Oncology, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZIOP) announced today that on December 6th it presented positive data from a Phase II study of darinaparsin (ZinaparTM) for the treatment of advanced lymphomas at the 50th American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting held in San Francisco, CA. The ongoing Phase II study demonstrates that darinaparsin is clinically active in heavily pretreated, relapsed/refractory patients with lymphoma.

Second-Generation CML Drugs Show Promise As Frontline Therapy

Two drugs approved as fallback therapy for chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) appear to outperform historical benchmarks of the frontline medication when used as a first treatment in separate clinical trials, researchers at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center reported at the 50th Annual Meeting of the American Hematological Society.
