TAP Submits New Drug Application for Febuxostat for Hyperuricemia in Chronic Gout

OSAKA, JAPAN — Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited (”Takeda”) announced today that TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc (”TAP”), its 50-50 joint venture with Abbott Laboratories, submitted a New Drug Application (”NDA”) on December 14 with the US Food and Drug Administration for febuxostat 80mg and 120mg for the management of hyperuricemia in patients with chronic gout. Extreme Pain Of Gout Is Detrimental To Quality Of Life & Work , New Poll Shows

Results of a new survey show that two-thirds (65 percent) of gout patients ranked their typical gout flares — defined as a sudden, intense pain — as either close to, or the worst pain possible and say that the flares last an average of eight days. Seventy-two percent reported having experienced at least one flare within the last 12 months. Milk helps gout meat and seafood do not

If you want to prevent painful gout you should drink milk and dairy products. You should not, however, eat lots of red meat and seafood. This is according to a report in the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Hyon Choi, study leader, said that this is the first evidence that dairy products can be strongly protective against gout.
