WHO Calls For Action On Blindness
The 62nd World Health Assembly, governing body of the World Health Organization (WHO), endorsed the WHO Action Plan for the Prevention of Avoidable Blindness and Visual Impairment. Worldwide, 45million people are blind, and 269million live with serious visual impairment. Yet 80% of blindness is from avoidable causes, which could be readily prevented, treated or cured by known and cost-effective methods.
