You can never be too prepared for a hospital emergency in times of natural or manmade disasters. Meeting Joint Commission Emergency Management (EM) standards for mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery can only be achieved through drills and exercises. These exercises need to be thoughtfully designed and carried-out at each facility, on all shifts, and involve all employees, as well as local, state, and regional emergency response partners.
