Legislation Protecting Patients From Losing Health Insurance When They Get Sick Passes Assembly Committee
Legislation requiring an independent review of health plans’ and insurers’ decisions to cancel insurance for patients after they get ill passed the Assembly Health Committee today. Assembly Bill 2, sponsored by the California Medical Association and authored by Assemblymember Hector De La Torre, D-Southgate, is designed to prevent the outrageous practice of health plans rescinding coverage for patients after they are diagnosed with a disease or become sick.
