Blood Vessels Grown From Kidney Patients’ Own Cells Used In Dialysis
US researchers have developed a new way of growing blood vessels using patients’ own skin cells to seed the growth of tissue and have tested it in dialysis patients with end stage kidney disease. The preliminary results of the trial are published in the 25 April online issue of The Lancet by first author Dr Todd McAllister of Cytograft Tissue Engineering in Novato, California, and colleagues.
