Crossing The Lesion During Angioplasty And Stenting Yields Success In Cases Studied
Internal carotid occlusion is the final event in the natural history of carotid stenosis. It may be asymptomatic or cause ischemic stroke with or without permanent neurologic deficit. Carotid stenosis causes microembolization to the brain, and occlusion is usually interpreted as the cessation of the risk of embolic events, thus requiring no surgical treatment.
