Adaptive Plasticity Of Mammalian Sperm Production In Response To Social Experience

This study demonstrates that the rate at which male house mice produce sperm varies according to their social environment. When males regularly encounter more potential sexual rivals, they increase their rate of sperm production. This is likely to be beneficial, because ejaculating more sperm is an effective way for males to maximise their chances of fertilisation success if females mate promiscuously.
