Buruli Ulcer Patients Cannot Afford Free Treatment
In Central Cameroon, despite care given free-of-charge for Buruli ulcer (BU,) patients’ economic and social costs are preventing or delaying possible treatment, according to an article published on October 15, 2008 in the open-access journal PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases. The Buruli ulcer is a tropical disease caused by Mycobacterium ulcerans, a relative of the bacteria that cause tuberculosis and leprosy.
