Omega-3 Fatty Acids Linked To Prevention Of Macular Degeneration
Researchers have more good news for those who enjoy eating fish. Ameta-analysis published in the June issue of Archives ofOphthalmology found that consumption of foods high in omega-3fatty acids, such as fish and flax, is linked to a reductionin the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) - a common eyedisease. However, the authors indicate a need for more clinical trialsbefore they can advocate routineconsumption of these foods for the prevention of AMD.
