MDC Statement On MPs’ Vote To Allow Creation Of Hybrid Embryos For Research

MPs have started voting on a series of reforms to the 1990 embryology laws. The measures which are part of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology (HFE) Bill, are aimed at updating laws in line with scientific advances. On 19 May MPs voted by 336 votes to 176 in favour of creating animal-human hybrid embryos for use in research.
