‘Face Loss’ Indeed Has A Greater Impact On The Chinese As Compared To The Americans
Consistent with widely held perceptions, this paper shows that ‘face loss’ indeed has a greater impact on the Chinese as compared to the Americans. ‘Face’ is defined as the reputation or credibility one has earned - a concept that is highly regarded among Asians. This research goes beyond the comparison of which culture experiences more face loss, also examining whether the processes leading from face loss to relationship outcome is cultural-specific.
