New Type 2 Diabetes Drug, UK

A new drug to treat Type 2 diabetes has been launched in the UK. Vildagliptin, which comes in tablet form and is taken once or twice a day, is part of a class of drugs called DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) inhibitors.How it worksDPP-4 inhibitors work by blocking the action of DPP-4, an enzyme which destroys the hormone incretin, and in doing so allows incretin levels to remain higher for longer.
