Adolescents with depression who have not responded to initial treatmentwith a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) may have moreeffective results by changing medication and beginning cognitivebehavioral therapy. According to an article in the February 27, 2008issue of JAMA, this improves symptoms in comparisonwith just changing the medication.Adolescent depression is condition that is common, chronic,recurrent and ultimately impairing.
