Lives Could Be Saved And Healthcare Costs Reduced By Heart Attack Prescription Drug Strategy
Full prescription coverage of heart drugs could help heart attack survivors live longer, better lives and lower the nation’s healthcare costs, according to a new analysis reported in Circulation: Journal of the American Heart Association.Researchers who conducted the analysis said as many as 50 percent of patients significantly underused highly effective medications to prevent recurrence of heart attacks. Cost is a major factor in why patients don’t take these medications.
