Pharmacist-Run Diabetes Program Gets Funding Boost

The Bank of America Foundation’s recent awarding of a $250,000 grant to support the El Rio Community Health Center’s pharmacy-based diabetes management program is the latest acknowledgment of the Tucson, Arizona, program’s success.The program began in 2001, when the El Rio Santa Cruz Neighborhood Health Center received approximately $250,000 from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Office of Pharmacy Affairs to fund a demonstration project in diabetes management.
