Current Treatment Targets Leave Diabetes Patients At Risk

The All Party Parliamentary Group on Diabetes (APPGD), headed by Adrian Sanders MP, is calling for tougher targets that address the third of a million people with type 2 diabetes who are currently at unnecessary increased risk of heart attack, stroke, blindness and limb amputation due to poor diabetes control.1, 2 The NHS spends approximately £25 million a day treating diabetes, most of which goes towards paying for the associated complications of the disease.
