Dramatic Increase In Number Of Injuries And Deaths Caused By ATVs
Nationally, the number of All-TerrainVehicle (ATV)-related emergency department visits has more than doubled in recent years, from 52,800 in 1997 to 136,100 in 2004. In Ohio there are now more than 10,000 hospital visits each year for ATV-related injuries. In addition, Ohio ranks in the top one-third nationally in the number of deaths caused by ATVs. Sadly, children younger than 16 years of age account for roughly one-third of all ATV-related deaths and injuries. [click link for full article]
